About Mr. Valenzuela
Mr. Eladio Valenzuela was born and raised in El Paso, TX, and is a northeast El Paso native. He has been teaching in the El Paso School District since 2004. Prior to that, he taught private voice, piano, and guitar lessons in his studio in north Texas for 3 years. He holds Bachelors (1999) and Masters Degrees (2010) in Music Education from the University of Texas El Paso, and a Masters in Vocal Pedagogy from Texas Woman's University (2004).
His performance experience includes work with the El Paso Diocesan Choir, the El Paso Chamber Choir, the El Paso Choral Society, the El Paso Opera chorus, the Regal Opera company in Bedford, Texas, and has also been an active church musician for over 25 years. In 2010, his thesis on choral music in Mexico was published by VDM Verlag Dr. Müller publishers, under the name Choral Music in Mexico: a survey of music between 1575-1775, which is available through many online booksellers. Mr. Valenzuela has been involved in the Texas Music Educators Association leadership for Region 22 for 6 years as Region Chair and as The region's high school coordinator. In 2019 he had the honor to perform with the Texas All-State Choir under the direction of Maria Guinand performing the Gloria from Missa Criolla.
On a more personal note, Mr. V enjoys playing golf, hiking, working on his house and back yard, and cycling around town. During the summer of 2018 he hiked the Camino de Santiago in Spain, a 500 mile trail that took a month to complete.
